This is not a sit-and-get. In this session, you will be guided through creative, transdisciplinary activities to nurture, grow, and combine your most passionate ideas with the standards you teach and the people you teach with. You will decompartmentalize the arts as you build bridges between school subjects. The goal of this workshop is to leave with a robust, workable, cross-curricular passion project that you can use with confidence. Our design protocol, combined with generative AI tools will help your ideas grow legs and walk out of the room with you. What we’ll bring: a variety of art materials to prototype your plan, AI-assisted creative tools, print and digital resources to help you grow your ideas, a library of cross-curricular projects to browse, and a shareable version of our design protocol that can be used with staff or students. What you’ll bring: a passion for artistic thought, and process, and an openness to push ideas out of your comfort zone.

Do you believe oil pastels are glorified crayons and best used as a medium for the younger grades? No so! In this workshop I'll show you lessons that will teach the importance of value over color and how to manipulate oil pastels as a painting medium. You will create the first two projects I use prior to my students working on their final oil pastel work. Students are always surprised at what they accomplish during this unit and I'm sure you will be too!
